Aivazovsky, Ivan Konstantinovich

Russian artist born in Theodosia. Aivazovsky studied at the St Petersburg Academy of Arts. He travelled widely in Europe, meeting J.M.W. Turner. Aivazovsky is famed for his marvelous oil painting seascapes for which he won several gold medals.
