Cornelius Krieghoff was a Canadian painter, born in Amsterdam. He learnt his art in Germany but moved to Quebec, settling there in1853. Cornelius Krieghoff is famous for his carefully worked oil paintings of Canadian scenery and daily life, full of informative detail but also firmly constructed on academic lines.
